DSAI Presents Research on Computational Authorship Analysis of the Ottoman Press at MeSSH26
DSAI presented a new study at the MeSSH26 Conference, held at Campus Condorcet in Paris on July 9–10, 2026. The study, titled "Beyond Anonymity in the Ottoman Press: A Computational Authorship Analysis of the Muhbir Newspaper via NLP", is a collaboration between DSAI, Boğaziçi University, and EHESS.
Researchers İrem Ertürk, Şaziye Betül Özateş, and M. Alperen Öztürk applied machine learning and deep learning techniques to perform stylometric analysis and identify the authorship of anonymous articles published in the Ottoman newspaper Muhbir. By leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, the study explores how computational methods can support authorship attribution and contribute to research in Ottoman history and the digital humanities.
